Energy shots flew over head, Al'tun  hid behind cover, his forces are growing thin as he fought the human invaders.  The humans attacked his home and he was no longer fighting to win but now to survive.  Around him other marine Velarians fell, the shots piercing their armor and killing them, their war crabs collapsing when shot at the underbelly or through their cracked shells.  A human leaps over the coral barricade and slashes at Al'tun with his Bayonette at the tip of his rifle, cutting his spear rifle in half, Al'tun growls and held the upper half of his spear rifle and impales the armored soldier.  "Damn it, by the gods when will reinforcements arrive?!" he growled in his thoughts, a human came close and Al'tun shouts at him, the man screamed at the loud voice of the Valarian with ears bleeding and falling dead.  Al'tun screamed in pain when a lucky shot hit his shoulder, forcing him back into cover.

He searches around for another spear rifle of his fallen brethren when the shots suddenly stopped firing.  "Valarian, this is your final chance of surrender!" Cried out the human commander "Surrender now and we will allow you to live! Your army is decimated, your reinforcements have been eliminated and we know of your troop movements in this sector! Give up now and we will allow you to live!" Al'tun snarled holding his wound to ease the pain, remaining silent as he picked up a rifle.  "Very well then, you leave us no choice, we will capture you and finish off your troops!" The commander turns to the soldier "Use stun grenades, the Hierarch wants this one alive.  The soldier nods and notified the soldiers.  "You will pay for your crimes human!" Al'tun shouted and rose up, raising his rifle into position, time seemed to slow down as he took a deep breath and focused on his target, however he noticed the humans had thrown something and sees grenades near his spot, he ducks down to take cover but the grenades explode with a bright flash and he falls on his back stunned.  He sees his brothers around him stunned as well as there were only few left.  He tries to recover quickly but only managed to twitch his fingers and tail.

The soldiers gather around him along with their commander, the commander kneels down to Al'tun and sighs.  "You could have surrendered and we'd let you be comfortable with us, could have made deals, truces...Seems you are just as stubborn or stupid as the others.  Be grateful our Hierarch wants you alive, otherwise I'd kill you." He stood up and aimed his pistol at him and pulled the trigger.  Al'tun groaned feeling sharp pain was felt tired.  "Take him to our drop ship and take him to the base's brigs.  You don't have to be nice to him but keep him alive.  Kill the rest." he commanded.  The soldiers obey and shot at the stunned velarians and his vision turns black as humans gathered around him and dragged his limp body as if he were a prize beast caught from a hunt.  "Gods...I...I have failed to protect my people...I...Have failed..." he last thought when he succumbed to unconsciousness.

*Several hours later*

*Al'tün groaned as he got up, he still felt dizzy, possibly that he was dehydrated, or perhaps it is still from the stun grenades, either way it didn't feel pleasant to him.  He hears the rattle of chains and looks down to see shackles attached to his wrists and ankles, his armor and weapons had been confiscated.  Al'tün hissed angrily, he got up and examined his surroundings.  He sees several other velarian species around, some spitters in acid proof cages as they crawl on their prison walls and cielings, the common velarians pacing in their cells bored and obviously would start a fight to ease their boredom and several marine velarians like himself, some hiding in shadows while others spoke to their neighbors in their native tongue.

A guard approached Al'Tün's cell and tossed in a bottle of water.  "Here you go you ugly son of a bitch, Enjoy it while you can, You only have four days here before we put you down like a mangy lizard that you are!" He smirked and left, Al'tün took the water and examined it and sighed.  "Why would they poison it? He said I am to die in four days." He opened the bottle and poured the water over himself and drank the remainder of it before tossing the empty bottle aside.

"It's sad." Al'tün quickly got up at the sudden appearance of a creature he had never before seen in his entire life, he glared at the creature "What are you? What is it you want?" he hissed.  The creature sighed and looked outside the prison bars "Brought here because you wanted to defend your home, branded a criminal and sentanced to death without trial while these humans, skydwellers as you call them, continue to poison your homeland, content with their lives fully knowing what they are doing and what effect it's having on you." she looks back at him "I am Dercas, I have come to make an offer to you Velarian."  Al'tun lowered his guard, intrigued but still wary.  "That explains who you are, not what you are." "What I am is of no importance, I am offering you a chance, a chance to restore the seas of your home, a chance to free all your brethren, a chance to see these humans finally leave." she replied.

Al'tün thought about it, Dercas smirked and opened her center eye to read his thoughts "This...beast...She could perhaps very well have something I need...But then it could be lies to simply amuse it...But..." he clenches his fists "what if it tells the truth? What if there is such a power to cleanse the seas of this pollution? What if there is a way to save my home?...That's it...I've made up my mind" he thought and glared back up at the demon animal who appeared amused "I accept your offer beast, but if I discover treachery-" "I promise you that there will be no such thing.  Come with me and soon we can begin." she interrupted, the eyes on her tails open and his shackles fall off his wrists and ankles.  He sighs as he rubs his raw wrists and gazes up at the demon. "What must I do to obtain this power?" he asked.

Dercas smiled and turned and entered a portal "Follow me" she says before going to the otherside.  Al'tün sighs and hesitated at first but follows after her, the portal closing behind him and his cell now empty with only his shackles left behind, now off to the Sacred Forest to obtain his one wish, to cleanse the seas and end the war.
Al'tün finally meets Dercas and enters the sacred forest, ready to face whatever challenges are before him. Will he succeed or will he fail?

Edits! I edited the beginning to make the timeline during the human and Velarian war.
